C.L. 'Max' Nikias

C. L. Max Nikias is USC’s eleventh president and the chair of the USC Health System Board. He has been at USC since 1991, as a professor, director of national research centers, dean, provost, and now president.

Dr. Nikias writes and speaks frequently about a range of nationally significant topics, including the value of—and access to—higher education; the current state and future of online education; the continued importance of the arts and humanities; the art of leadership through the classics; and the role of elite research universities as economic drivers. Under his leadership, USC has fortified its position as an academically elite global research university as well as a preeminent anchor institution in Los Angeles, contributing significantly to the region’s economy and employing more people than any private organization in the city.
